With honeybee and wild bee populations declining at an alarming rate, taking care of these and other hardworking pollinators is a critical effort that must be made collectively in order to make a difference. In this presentation titled “Creating a Pollinator Garden”, Jimmy Gatt will cover trees and plants that gardeners can choose to create a more insect friendly garden. The more plants selected to support insects, the more birds and wildlife we bring to our gardens. Jimmy will also touch on home beekeeping and how those who wish to keep bees can create gardens that support this hobby.

Jimmy is a certified beekeeper and a board member of the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association. He recently established a partnership between Trees Atlanta and Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association to plant more summer-blooming trees in Atlanta.

The Gwinnett County Master Gardeners’ Association (GCMGA) is hosting this presentation at the Bethesda Senior Center, 225 Bethesda Church Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. The public is welcome at no charge – bring a covered dish to share and join us for dinner at 6:30, or just come for the program beginning promptly at 7 p.m. For more information about GCMGA, visit www.gwinnettmastergardeners.com or email gwinnettgardener@gmail.com
