Dear Members of the NGC Board of Directors,

I want to let you know of a new initiative by the NGC Social Media Committee.  Perhaps many of you are familiar with “#GivingTuesday.”  It is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.  Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

The Social Media Committee is spearheading a digital fundraising campaign to benefit the PLANT AMERICA projects and grants.  The initial fundraiser will take place the week after Thanksgiving, with emphasis on Giving Tuesday, November 28.  Giving Tuesday focuses on donations given via Facebook or a nonprofit’s website.  We will be using both platforms.  Please visit the NGC Facebook page on November 28th and “like” and “comment” on the page to increase the public’s awareness of our mission and this fundraiser.  Additionally, please share this week’s Facebook posts on your page or on your state’s page to help us promote NGC.  The Committee would appreciate it if you forward this information to as many members in your state as possible.

On this Thanksgiving, I am very thankful for the hard-working, dedicated members that are serving on the Board of Directors of National Garden Clubs.  May you have a wonderful holiday with family and friends as all Americans celebrate the bounty that we have in our country.
