Information/Education Booth-Norcross Community Market-Thrasher Park

Sustainable Norcross Commission is partnering with NGC on an information/education booth at the Norcross Community Market (located in Thrasher Park) on a few select dates in June. If you are interested in helping plan and volunteer at one or both of the following markets, please reach out to the designated SNC/NGC member indicated below.

Wednesday, June 1, 2022 

The topic is "Perennial Gardening".

Volunteers need to be available for a 1-hour planning meeting on May 19th at 10am as well as for a 1 1/2-2-hour shift at the market booth on June 1 from 3:30-7:15pm. If you are interested, please contact Susan Bell for more information. (susan.ruchala@gmail.com or 631-786-4453).

Wednesday, June 22, 2022, the topic is "National Pollinator Week".

National Garden Week June 5th-11th

Cherokee Garden Library Tour with Staci Catron on Thursday, June 9th at 11:00.

The cost of the tour is $13.50. Carpools will be arranged - leaving at 10:00.

Plant Swap and Share-, June 11th 10A-1P at the cottage

Bring A Plant-Take A Plant. Gather in the garden with other garden club members, plant enthusiasts, friend, and neighbors to swap, share tips, tricks, and knowledge.  Bring a friend or two. See attachment for more details

Pass-along plants are FREE

The remaining pass along plants are FREE.  Please take a plant or two or three home with you. Please consider purchasing an American Beauty Berry to benefit our Scholarship Fund. Original price was $15, now $10!

Small pink blooms in summer are followed by clusters of brilliant fuchsia berries in the fall. Berries color in early October and remain until they are eaten by birds and small mammals in late November. Light yellow fall color.  Great ornamental shrub for the garden. Berries attract songbirds in the fall. Also provides cover for birds and small mammals.

Garden Workdays

Weeding and general clean-up is always needed.  Please drop by anytime it is convenient for you to pull a few weeds or pick up trash/debris. Please contact Pam Cammarata if you would like more information or to volunteer.  (770.314.9541 or pmcsmile@yahoo.com)

Cottage Rentals-May 27th evening.  Our cottage is available for rentals.  Please spread the word!
