Norcross Garden Club Earth Team Awards
Nine youth representing the Norcross Garden Club Earth Team accepted their Garden Club of GA and Deep South Garden Club Youth Sculpture Contest Awards during a ceremony at Thrasher Park on June 1, 2022. Reading the city proclamation and announcing the names and their awards was Norcross City Council member Josh Bare. Nine of our eleven winners came from Tucker, Duluth, Chamblee, Snellville, Lilburn, and Norcross. These youth are a great sampling of the Norcross Art Splash audience. The Sculpture Contest took place at our booth at the 2021 Norcross Art Splash.
Here are a couple of photos to share of member Susan Bell, who took the lead on organizing a tent promoting perennials at the Norcross Community Market on June 1st. The Norcross Garden Club partnered with Sustainable Norcross to offer educational materials to the public on gardening with perennials. First photo: Member Susan Bell assists in the planting of a miniature Hosta. Second photo: Here youth market goers enjoy the use of color pencils, creating colorful botanical prints.
