This Week In The Garden – vol 110

Next Cottage Care Date is Wednesday, Aug 16, 6p-8p

Members are most welcome to stop by anytime it’s convenient for you. Make it a fun outing -bring a friend or family member with you to pick up debris, pull a few weeds and share some smiles and conversation! We especially need to pull all the oak tree seedlings before we have our own forest!  If you have any questions, please text Pam Cammarata (770-314-9541).

Great Southeast Pollinator Census August 18-19, 2023

Are you getting ready to count pollinators? We are asking members to participate by counting pollinators on a specific plant of your choice in your garden or any outdoor area that you visit on August 18 or 19. A copy of the Census form and Insect identification guide is attached. If you have questions, contact Trudy Rudert (404-713-6934); or Dolores Stewart (818-421-3084)

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is a citizen science project created by the University of Georgia. This project is designed for everyone to participate and make a difference for pollinator conservation. Visit this website (https://gsepc.org/)  for more information. It includes a short video (You Tube - Pollinator how -to) demonstrating the ease of participating in the count from your own backyard or favorite outdoor space.

For ideas to add pollinator plants to your containers or gardens, read “Creating a Pollinator Paradise” on p17 of the Garden Gateways, Summer 2023 edition for some ideas. Or check out Pike Nurseries for pollinator plant suggestions. Pike Nursery- attracting pollinators )
