This week in the Garden – Vol 170

May 18, 2026

Meals on Wheels Work-Day Wednesday, May 20th 11Am at the Cottage

Please join us to assemble flower vases for the MOW clients. These flower vases bring big smiles and great joy to them. Bring your favorite snips. If you have any flowers or greens in your yard, please bring them to the cottage. You may also purchase flowers to contribute to the project. The club will also purchase flowers.

Kathy visited Cosmoflora on Jimmy Carter Blvd. The prices are comparable to Trader Joe’s flower pricing. However, most of the bouquets were smaller. Her assessment is that the pricing and selection is comparable to Trader Joe’s or other grocery stores. She did not think it was worth an extra trip to shop at Cosmoflora.

Summer Cottage Weed Removal and Container Watering

Please think about stopping by the cottage anytime it’s convenient for you to pick up debris, pull some weeds and give the containers a drink of water if needed. Hook up with a garden club friend, neighbor or family member. You will be surprised how much can be accomplished in a short time. If you have any questions about tasks or time commitment, please contact Pam Cammarata (770-314-9541).

Red, White and Blue Gardens and Containers

Don’t forget to take pictures of your Red, White and Blue gardens and/or containers. Hint: a blue container counts as part of the Red, White and Blue theme. Some of the purple annuals are a good substitute for blue. Send your photos to Jeanette Shewbert (jmosowski@gmail or 770.329.1411.

Please complete the Plant Sale Survey We really would like everyone’s input. Now’s the time to jot down your thoughts and ideas while they are fresh in your memory. Email your completed survey to Jeanette (jmosowski@gmail.com)

Please remember to take photos of plants in bloom in your garden that you may be dividing to donate for next year’s sale. Customers really like to see what the plant will look like in bloom. Correct photo signage also helps members as they assist customers with their plant selections.
