“Let Love Grow” Please join us for a potluck dinner and Valentine Card making for our 120 local Meals on Wheels recipients. That is a LOT of cards! Many hands make light work!

Main dinner entrée is baked chicken. Decaf coffee, water and wine will also be provided.

What to bring? 

·        a dish to share (surprise us!)

·        art supplies-scissors, glue, buttons, fabric, lace, magazine/seed catalogs with flower pictures, markers, colored pencils and??? Surprise us with your creativity, too!

·        Does anyone have card stock paper sitting in a closet? Please donate and let Gena know (404.550.0217) If not, card stock will be provided. 

·        plastic grocery bags for the Neighborhood Cooperative Ministry. 

·        can pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House.

LOCATION: Bethesda Senior Center, 225 Bethesda Church Road, Lawrenceville, GA

TOPIC: “Ferns” GUEST SPEAKER: Connie Gray, Program Coordinator and Board Member of the Athens-East Piedmont Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society will share her knowledge on “Ferns.” GCMGA meetings are free and open to the public. If you would like to join the group for lunch, please come at 11:30 and bring a dish to share.

Friday, February 23rd Field Trip-Atlanta Botanical Garden for the Flower Show

At the January meeting, Cathy Nelmes shared that she would like to organize a trip to the Atlanta Botanical Garden to attend the Flower Show on Friday, February 23rd. So far, nine (9) members have signed up. Kathy Sumner can take 7 passengers in her car. We will need at least one more driver. Please contact Cathy Nelmes if you would like to sign up to attend the Flower Show (raynelmes@aol.com).

For your information, admission for non ABG (Atlanta Botanical Garden) members is $29.95 for a Flower Show weekend pass. ABG members’ ticket cost is $10. The Okefenokee Protection Act -House Bill 71

The Garden Club of Georgia is asking all Garden Club members to act by contacting their State Legislators to remind them of the importance of passing House Bill 71. The new legislative session began on January 8th. Please consider calling and or writing to your State House and Senate representatives. Detailed information about the Okefenokee Swamp and its importance and specific information on how to contact the Georgia legislators was attached to TWIG Vol 124. UGA Extension Gwinnett Annual Fundraiser Plant Sale

A wonderful selection of edible and ornamental plants available for pre-sale, along with a new and different selection of plants available for purchase the day of pick up. These plants are of the highest quality and selected to perform well in Hardiness Zone 8a (NEW!). Order Now until Friday, March 1, 2024! For the best selection, order early, we have secured limited numbers of some plants including native azaleas!
Plant pickup and the bonus middle of the ring sales (check and credit card only) are at the Gwinnett County

Members Corner

Barbara Kohlhausen’s husband, Richard, passed away recently. Visitation is at Crowell Brothers in Peachtree Corners, Sunday, February 4th, 4p-7p; Funeral Service is Monday, February 5th, 11a at Christ the King Lutheran Church (5575 Peachtree Pkwy, Peachtree Corners) The obituary is posted on Crowell Brothers website. Please keep Barbara and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Help Wanted (and NEEDED)

We need members to help in several roles and committees. Please let Kathy Sumner know what you would like to help with. Examples: Publicity, plant digs and sale, youth activities, giving talks or workshops, help writing up awards etc. Please let us know what your talents are and how you would like to help the Norcross Garden Club. Cottage Garden Care 

Members are encouraged to stop by anytime it’s convenient for weeding in our garden. Bring a friend or family member with you to pick up debris and pull a few weeds! If you have any questions, please text Pam Cammarta (770-314-9541).
